Artist Bill of Rights

TL;DR: You own your art. We only get a narrow, revocable license to turn it into playable puzzles and show it in the app. You earn passive revenue. You can withdraw your content at any time.

Ownership

  • You keep 100% of your copyright and all other rights.
  • This is not work-for-hire.

License (what you grant us)

  • A non-exclusive, worldwide, revocable license to:
    • transform your images into playable puzzle files (and necessary thumbnails/previews),
    • display and distribute those puzzle files inside our app and official websites, and
    • use reasonable promotional uses (e.g., a screenshot or thumbnail of your art inside the app UI or in a social post about your puzzle).
  • No sublicensing except to our service providers (hosting, CDN, app stores) strictly to operate the app.
  • No AI training: we will not use your content to train AI models.
  • We do not grant our users the right to create derivative works or use your work for commercial purposes.

Control & Removal

  • You can pause or remove any piece at any time using the Phuzzlings app.
  • We’ll remove it from new distribution within 7 days; cached copies may persist on devices/CDNs for up to 30 days. The typical times in practice will be much faster than this, and this is just our official guarantee.

Attribution & Metadata

  • We attribute you by your display name and link(s) you provide.
  • We will preserve rights metadata where technically possible and maintain provenance in our systems.

Money (Passive Revenue)

  • You receive 20% of Net Revenue attributable to your puzzles (definition below).
  • Chargebacks/fraud/returns are netted in the following month.

Safety & Legal

  • We comply with DMCA; you can file takedowns and counter-notices.
  • We may hide content that breaches law or policy, but we will notify you.

Termination

  • You can terminate anytime with 30 days’ notice.
  • We will stop distributing your content and remove it from promotion; caches/backups may persist for 30 days for legal/operational reasons.
